Air Jordan 1s will likely never tire in the realm of sneaker culture, and Jordan Brand is more than aware of that very fact, considering a release takes place essentially every month without fail. January saw to a few — some in Black Satin and a few of more bespoke treatment — while February had a wealth of standouts: the model’s 1985 re-run, a women’s “UNC to CHI,” and now a “Pine Green” done in a quite the familiar color blocking. Poised to close, the latter pair utilizes its signature shade at the outsole, toe box, swoosh, and much of the heel counter to ankle flap while the rest shapes with a neutral black leather.

The Nike Air Fear Of God 1 “The Question”

Inspiration is everything to Jerry Lorenzo, and while his inaugural Nike collaboration was firmly imbued with the spirit of basketball, his latest Air Fear of God 1 indulges in more specific influence — namely one involving his longtime hero, Allen Iverson. Hits of cream cover the forefoot, leading backwards unto the hardshell cages and cleanly molded tooling, with breaks arriving abruptly as only one singular stitch separates the black-dyed mesh along the entire upper half.

The Nike Kyrie 6 colorways — of which there are a lot — it’s hard to truly point out the standouts; after the wild, colorful, and heartwarming reveal of the latest “Aunt Pearl” tooling, the trajectory for the model has been firmly set on the avant grade and surprisingly fashionable, ostensibly forgoing that of the playful, pop culture infused themes of Friends and Spongebob Squarepants. Elsewhere, however, the palette is unassuming, staying neutral with synthetics and bases accented by black embroidered swooshes otherwise. At the strap is where the focal motif lies, switching up from a light pastel pink, which also dresses the heel counter, to a somewhat saturated blue, splotched atop with patterns reminiscent of a cheetah sans its warm-tinged tonality.

The Nike LeBron 17 Low “Tune Squad”

The 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago was about sneakers just as much as it was about basketball. White mesh toe boxes, throats and heel panels join with white leather mudguards and midfoot overlays to set the stage for red and blue accents throughout the upper. And though the two-tone arrangements of the laces, spines and Air Max 270 React-like midsoles are notable in their own right, the furry profile Swooshes are unquestionably the pair’s standout detail. Other Space Jam-elements include Bugs Bunny’s signature “What’s Up Doc?” phrase behind the tongue and the “Tune Squad”-bullseye logo printed on the insoles.
